Budgam: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today visited various villages of Khansahab area of district Budgam.

During the visit, the Director monitored the agriculture activities in the farmers’ fields and took stock of the agriculture interventions offered by the Department and adopted by the farming community of the area.

The Director on the occasion held interactive meetings with the farmers of the different villages and reaffirmed the commitment to reach out to the farming community in every nook and corner of the valley. 

He said that the department’s farmer outreach program will continue in the coming days also. He also said the department is putting all the efforts in making sure that all the latest technologies and interventions reach the farmers’ fields.

Iqbal asked the farmers of the concerned area to explore the available resources and go for the integrated way of farming. He said agriculture is the only sector that could boost the economy of the region.

He also gave awareness regarding the schemes implemented by the Department like KCC, Soil Health Card, PM-Kisan, etc.

The Director asked the officers/officials of the department to organize awareness programs for the farmers so that modern interventions reach them on time.

He said that awareness among the farming community with respect to the centrally sponsored schemes could play a big role in making the targets of development and socio-economic transformations of the farming community.
