Jammu: Principal Secretary, Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC) and Mining Department, Ashok Kumar Parmar today chaired the 61st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of J&K Minerals Limited (JKML).

The meeting was attended by Sushma Chauhan, Secretary, Planning Development & Monitoring Department; Vikram Gupta, Managing Director, JKML; Zia-ur-Rehman, Financial Advisor / CAO, JKML; Mir Irfan, Company Secretary and other officers and officials of the Corporation.

The Managing Director placed the annual financial statements of the corporation before the Board which were in arrears for many years. The performance during the FY 2021-22 was also discussed and the board agreed that despite the COVID-19 crisis the performance had been satisfactory.

The meeting was told that the Corporation was always functioning during this period to deliver much needed raw material to the mineral based industries in UT of J&K.

It was revealed that the Corporation for the first time ventured into minor mineral exploitation and operationalized four minor mineral blocks in Jammu region. It was informed that it has led to increased cash flow, besides acting as a nodal agency for supply of construction material like Sand, boulders, nalla muck/RBM etc for various prestigious projects of UT of J&K.

While appreciating the efforts of the management for making the corporation more vibrant, the Principal Secretary desired that possibilities of further mineral extraction in Jammu & Kashmir be explored by the Corporation. This will help to develop the mineral based Industries in the UT of J&K and create more employment in the region, he added.

The Managing Director extended gratitude to all the stakeholders, bankers and customers, on behalf of the Board of Directors and appreciated each member of the J&K Minerals for their hard work and commitment towards realising the set objectives of the corporation.
