Navin visits Baramulla; assesses development scenario

Baramulla: Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries departments, Navin Kumar Choudhary, today visited Baramulla district to assess development scenario in the district. 

The visit was also aimed to take a holistic review of the pace of progress on some of the major development projects undertaken by different executing agencies in the district.

Principal Secretary, while taking comprehensive review of development works being executed in the district, emphasized upon the functionaries to strictly abide by the timelines fixed for completion of these vital projects. He directed the officers to productively utilize all available resources, asking them to work with added zeal and dedication so as to enhance the quality of public services.

Navin Choudhary stressed for incorporation of latest and modern farming practices like organic and sustainable farming which has the potential to create more and more opportunities for farmers. He also directed for educating the farmers with latest know-how in the field of agriculture besides disseminating awareness about welfare schemes on ground. He laid emphasis on adoption of crop diversification terming it a viable option towards enhancing farming dividends.

District Development Commissioner, Bhupinder Kumar, presented a detailed account of progress recorded in various sectors through power point presentation. He also presented a brief on district profile besides highlighting some bottlenecks hampering smooth execution of development works. 

Directors of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Sericulture, Horticulture Planning and Marketing, heads of concerned departments, engineers of line departments and district officers among other functionaries were present in the meeting.

Later, the Principal Secretary chaired an interactive meeting with DDC and BDC members to get first hand appraisal of their concerns pertaining to development pursuits.

DDC members highlighted several grievances and demands and sought their timely redressal in order to accomplish the goal of development at grassroots level.

On the occasion, DDC Chairperson, Safeena Beigh, highlighted several issues pertaining to development and welfare of people of the district.

The Principal Secretary assured that all development concerns of PRIs shall be fulfilled so that the vision of democratic decentralization is realized. He issued on spot directions to concerned officers with regard to resolution of several issues raised by the people and PRI representatives.
