Kupwara: The Director Agriculture Kashmir,  Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today visited Machil area of Kupwara district and reviewed the implementation of different centrally sponsored schemes.

A meeting of the Inspector General, Border Security Force, Raja Babu Singh and Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal was held to discuss the cooperation between the Department and BSF for border area development. In the meeting different issues related to the development of the farming community of the area were discussed.

Later, the IG B.S.F and Director Agriculture addressed a gathering of farmers.

Speaking on the occasion IG BSF highlighted the need to strengthen the cooperation between BSF and Agriculture Department for the border area development.

Expressing his views, Director Agriculture said that the Department is committed to the development of the agriculture sector in far flung and border areas. He said the Department in collaboration with BSF will devise a strategy in coming days for the capacity building and skill empowerment of the farming community of the border areas.

Iqbal also requested representatives of Panchayat Raj Institution present on the occasion to provide the pendencies if any to the Department regarding PM Kisan scheme and assured them every possible help to redress the same on priority.

Meanwhile, the dignitaries distributed vegetable seedlings, poly houses, Kisan Credit cards among the farmers of concerned areas.

Deputy Director Planning, District Agriculture Officer Extension, many senior officers from BSF and agriculture Department, were also present on the occasion.
