Ganderbal: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today inaugurated Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) at District Soil Testing Laboratory, here.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director Agriculture said that the installation of Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer at Soil Testing Laboratory Ganderbal will enhance the soil testing capacity of the laboratory to a critical analysis level.

Iqbal said that the analysis of soil is a critically important branch of environmental monitoring, the list of harmful chemicals is growing therefore a full spectrum of analytical technologies with the most accurate and sensitive analysis is needed.

The Director said that the introduction of this latest facility at the district soil testing laboratory will hugely benefit farmers/Agri-entrepreneurs of the concerned district.

Later, the Director also inaugurated a custom hiring centre (CHC) at Ganderbal, village level soil testing laboratory in the concerned district and flagged-off a group of farmers on a day long farmer’s exposure visit to Seed Multiplication Farm, Padgampora.

On this occasion, District Development Council Chairperson Ganderbal was also present.

Director Agriculture also inspected the various oilseed fields laid out in the district under national mission on edible oils.

Earlier, Chief Agriculture Officer Ganderbal gave a detailed presentation of the progress on the implementation of various programmes in the district. He also informed the Director regarding various innovative interventions taken up by the department in the district.

Director Agriculture was accompanied by Deputy Director Agriculture Planning and other senior officers of the department.
