DC Sgr reviews progress of dev works taken up during current FY

SRINAGAR: In order to review the pace of works in progress for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2022, a meeting of senior officers of Police and Civil Administration was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad here on Tuesday at Meeting Hall of DC Office.

The meeting was attended by SSP Traffic, Muzaffar Ahmad, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Syed Haneef Balkhi, Superintendent of Police(Headquarter), Arif Ahmad, Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Yaseen Lone, Joint Commissioner SMC, Riyaz Ahmad, Deputy Director Fire & Emergency Services, Bashir Ahmad, Chief Medical Officer, Srinagar, Dr Jameel, besides AD FCS&CA, Executive Engineers of R&B, I&FC, and PHE.

At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner said that due to Covid-19 pandemic decline this year the number of Yatries is expected to be very high.

The DC directed the officers to expedite the works undertaken to augment the accommodation for temporary halt at transit camp in Pantha Chowk in wake of expected huge footfall for the yatries paying obeisance at holy cave and passing via Srinagar route. He asked for intensified preparations for the basic amenities at the transit camp.

The DC said directions have been issued by higher authorities for further capacity addition to hold about 6000 Yatries during annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2022 at Pantha Chowk Yatra camp and in this regard, the DC asked the R&B department to complete the ongoing works for the two huts and submit DPR for construction of 10 more prefabricated huts and public convenience units to facilitate the yatries during their halt.

With regard to sanitation, the SMC authorities were told to ensure proper sanitation in and around the transit camp, beside, adequate arrangements for mobile public convenience facilities at the camp. They were also asked to keep staff in multiple shifts at the camp to maintain sanitation and proper cleanliness.

Regarding parking facilities, the SSP Traffic briefed the DC about the arrangements being made for parking of buses ferrying the Yatries. During the meeting a route plan for smooth and safe ply of vehicles ferrying yatries was also discussed to avoid traffic jamming.

While, SP HQs Srinagar, Arif Shah apprised the DC about the proposed security arrangements with regard to expected heavy footfall of the yatries during upcoming (SANJY)-2022.

On the occasion, the Chief Medical Officer informed the chair that a dedicated medical camp comprising multiple units is being set up at the venue.

Similarly, the Deputy Director Fire & Emergency Department informed that their Department is deploying a full-fledged fire tender station at the camp to tackle any fire incident.

DC also took stock of the Langars and their sufficiency in meeting the requirement. It was also made out that additional langars will be operationalised in case the requirement is felt.
