Renowned educationist, former JD Edu Ghulam Muhammad Malik passes away

Baramulla: A renowned educationist, former Joint Director Education and a social activist Haji Ghulam Muhammad Malik passed away after brief illness at Srinagar Hospital on Sunday.

A large number of people including his students, friends, relatives and employees of the education department participated in his funeral prayers held at Fathehpora Baramulla where he was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard.

The sad demise of an able and upright administrator in the department of education, the people’s friendly towering teacher and social worker shocked and saddened his army of students, colleagues, friends and people from cross section of society in Baramulla who participated in his funeral prayers bidding him last tearful adieu.

Various socio-political, trade organizations have expressed their grief and condolences on the sad demise of Malik Shab and pall of gloom descended on the entire Baramulla after news about his death spread.

People term him a pious soul with a kind heart, an able administrator and social worker who was always helpful to his students, needy and poor people.

“He had an outstanding personality, always well prepared, extremely articulate as well as witty. His contributions in education and other social sectors will never be forgotten,” said Haji Karamat Qayoom, a close friend of Malik, while expressing grief and condolences to the bereaved family.

“He was an inspiration to all. He wanted communities to help their poor locally. A man with innate goodness and kindness as we fondly called him Malikh Shab who left all his friends shattered,” added Patron Human Aid Society  and Chairman BWJA Haji Karamat Qayoom. 

Expressing condolences and solidarity, President Varmul College Alumni Association (VCAA) Prof Mohammad Ismail in his statement said that the Alumni of Government College Baramulla feel shocked to know about the sad demise of former Joint Director Education and educationist of high repute Prof. Ghulam Muhammad Malik. 

Traders Federation Baramulla also expressed solidarity and condolences with the family and termed the death of the outstanding teacher who was much loved by all.

Meanwhile, Chairman Human Aid Society Bashir Ahmad Mir has also expressed his condolences and prayed to Almighty Allah to rest his soul in peace and grant strength to the family to bear the loss.

“I have lost my beloved teacher, friend and dedicated senior member of HAS and Baramulla has lost a great son and a real gem. He was a childhood hero before becoming a friend, a brother and a mentor,” Mir added.

Meanwhile, SNS Editor and Kashmir Images North Kashmir Bureau Chief Reyaz Rashid expressed his deep sorrow and grief on the sad demise of the noble soul and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.
