Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir has logged 19 new positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), in the last 24 hours even as no new virus-related death was reported, officials said Saturday.

They informed that 10 of the fresh cases were recorded from Jammu division and nine from Kashmir, taking the total number of positive cases recorded so far in Jammu and Kashmir to 4,53,422.

Moreover, 48 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 26 from Kashmir and 22 from Jammu division, in the last 24 hours.

No new case of mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today, they said.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 14,278 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 2,16,83,820.

According to the bulletin, out of 4,53,422 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far in J&K, currently there are 252 active positive cases across the UT including 145 in Kashmir and 107 in Jammu division, while as 4,48,421 persons have recovered and 4,749 have died – 2,423 in Kashmir and 2,326 in Jammu division.

Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases reported today, the bulletin informed that Srinagar reported five cases, Budgam, Pulwama, Bandipora and Kulgam reported one case each while Baramulla, Kupwara, Anantnag, Ganderbal and Shopian districts reported no fresh cases today.

Similarly, Jammu reported six cases, Kathua reported two cases, Poonch and Kishtwar reported one case each while Doda, Samba, Rajouri, Reasi, Ramban and Udhampur districts reported no fresh cases today.

At 3614, India records lowest single-day rise in Covid cases since May 12, 2020

India Saturday recorded its lowest single-day rise in Covid infections since May 12, 2020 as 3,614 fresh cases pushed the overall tally to 4,29,87,875 infections, even as the number of active cases dipped to 40,559, the Union Health Ministry said.

The death toll due to the viral disease went up to 5,15,803 with 89 more fatalities, according to the ministry’s data updated at 8 am.

The active cases account for 0.09 percent of the total caseload, while the country’s COVID-19 recovery rate has further improved to 98.71 percent, the ministry said.

A reduction of 1,660 cases was recorded in the active caseload in a span of 24 hours, it added.

The daily case count was the lowest since May 12, 2020, when the country had logged 3,604 cases, the ministry said.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease has gone up to 4,24,31,513 and the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.2 percent.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.44 percent, while the weekly positivity rate was 0.52 percent.

A total of 77.77 crore tests to detect the coronavirus have been conducted so far, 8,21,122 of them in the last 24 hours.

The cumulative number of anti-Covid vaccine doses administered in the country has exceeded 179.91 crore.
