Srinagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Thursday said that its sleuths trapped and arrested a Patwari and Chowkidar in Nishat for bribery.

ACB in a press release said that Asif Farooq Wani, Patwari, Halqa Brein Nishat, Srinagar and Chowkidar Nazir Ahmad Dar were arrested for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 10000 for issuance of ‘Fardi Naqsha Intikhaab’ (revenue extract).

According to ACB, it had received a written complaint alleging that the said Patwari and Chowkidar were demanding Rs 10,000 as bribe for issuance of revenue extracts for a piece of land to the complainant.

After registering a case, a trap was laid and Nazir Ahmad Dar, Chowkidar, was trapped red-handed  while demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs 10,000 on behalf of Patwari, Asif Farooq Wani from the complainant, the ACB said, adding both the accused were arrested and taken into custody.

The bribe money was also recovered from their possession in presence of independent witnesses, ACB said, adding that the residential houses of the accused were also searched, while further investigations into the case are on.
