Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday registered 84 new positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19),  while no fresh virus-related death was reported in the last 24 hours, officials said.

Of the fresh cases, they said 63 were reported from Jammu division and 21 from Kashmir division — taking the total number of positive cases detected so far in Jammu and Kashmir to 4,52,901.

During the last 24 hours, officials said 208 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals, including 158 from Jammu division and 50 from Kashmir.

No new case of Mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today, they said.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 18,986 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 2,14,86,303.

According to the bulletin, out of 4,52,901 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far in J&K, currently there are 871 active positive cases in the UT, including 491 in Jammu division and 380 in Kashmir, while as 4,47,282 persons have recovered and 4,748 have died – 2,423 in Kashmir division and 2,325 in Jammu division.

Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases reported today, the bulletin informed that Srinagar reported 12 cases, Baramulla one case, Budgam reported four cases, Pulwama, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Anantnag and Shopian reported no new fresh case, even as Kupwara and Bandipora districts reported three and one case respectively.

Similarly, Jammu reported 30 cases, while as Udhampur reported six new cases, Rajouri reported one fresh case, Doda reported 15 cases, Kathua reported three cases, Ramban reported two new cases, Kishtwar six cases, while as Samba, Poonch  andReasi reported no fresh case.

India records 11,499 fresh COVID-19 cases, 255 deaths

With 11,499 people testing positive for coronavirus infection in a day, India’s total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,29,05,844, while the active cases further declined to 1,21,881, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Saturday.

The death toll climbed to 5,13,481 with 255 daily fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

With this, the country recorded its daily COVID-19 cases under one lakh for the 20th consecutive day.

The active cases comprise 0.28 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has further improved to 98.52 percent, the health ministry said.

A reduction of 12,354 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.01 percent, while the weekly positivity rate was 1.36 percent, according to the health ministry.

The number of recoveries surged to 4,22,70,482, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.20 percent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive exceeded 177.13 crore.

The 255 new fatalities include 177 from Kerala and 15 from Karnataka.

A total of 5,13,481 deaths have been reported so far in the country, including 1,43,687 from Maharashtra, 64,980 from Kerala, 39,900 from Karnataka, 38,000 from Tamil  Nadu, 26,117  from Delhi, 23,447 from Uttar Pradesh and 21,169 from  West Bengal.

The health ministry stressed that more than 70 percent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.

“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that state-wise distribution of the figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
