DEO Srinagar reviews status of Electoral Roll, Voter Awareness contests

SRINAGAR: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, who is also the District Election Officer(DEO) today reviewed the status of Electoral Rolls and the measures taken regarding Voter awareness contest in a meeting held here in the meeting hall of DC Office Complex.

On the occasion, threadbare deliberations were held with regard to progress and several parameters of health of Electoral Rolls including status of disposal of claims and objections on ERO NET, Demographic Similar Entries, Photo Similar Entries, Photo Coverage of Electoral Rolls, Logical errors and Status of AMF through Garuda App.

Besides, the meeting also discussed the measures being taken regarding Voter Awareness Contest recently launched by Election Commission of India to enhance the participation in the contest “My Vote is my Future-Power of One Vote” to enhance the participation in the Contest under various categories like, Quiz, Video Making Contest, Song Contest, Poster Design Contest, Slogan writing Contest.

On the occasion, the District Election Officer said a voter awareness contest themed “My Vote is My Future: Power of One Vote” has been launched by the Election Commission of India to leverage talent and creativity of citizens and spread electoral awareness. He said that the Contest will not only harness mass creativity but also generate valuable ideas for voter awareness.

The DEO asked the AEROs and EROs to focus on removing Photo similar entries to achieve cent percent photo coverage in the district. The deficiency of AMF on Garuda App within the next 10 days.  He also directed them to hold meetings with concerned BLOs regarding the spread of mass awareness of the contest.

With regard to Special Summary Revision (SSR), the DEO asked for holding training of field staff by mater trainers so that best practices are adopted.

Similarly, the Education Department was asked to take necessary measures for organizing the contest. He directed for ensuring school wise details of the participants in the context.

The meeting among others was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Faz-lul Haseeb, Deputy District Election Officer, Sandeep Singh Bali, Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and Nodal officer SVEEP.
