Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday reported 440 new positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19),  and one more virus-related death, officials said.

They said of the fresh cases, 276 were reported from Jammu division and 164 from Kashmir while the lone virus-related death in the last 24 hours was reported from the Jammu division.

Moreover, they said 1,228 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 646 in Kashmir and 582 in Jammu in the last 24 hours.

No new case of mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today, they said.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 23,903 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to 2,11,06,507.

According to the bulletin, out of 4,50,771 positive cases recorded cumulatively in J&K until now, currently there are 5,466 active positive cases across the UT including 3,179 in Kashmir and 2,287 in Jammu division, while as 4,40,560 persons have recovered and 4,745 have died – 2,422 in Kashmir and 2,323 in Jammu division.

The officials said that Srinagar reported 92 cases, Baramulla 12 cases, Budgam 15 cases, Pulwama 05 cases, Kupwara 18 cases, Anantnag 07 cases, Bandipora 02cases, Ganderbal 06 cases, Kulgam 03cases and Shopian reported 04 fresh cases today.

They said that Jammu reported 96 cases, Reasi 14 cases, Udhampur 16 cases, Rajouri 08 cases, Doda 83 cases, Kathua 14 cases, Samba 02 cases, Poonch 04 cases, Kishtwar 03 cases while as Ramban reported 36 fresh cases today.

Active COVID-19 cases in country dip to 5,37045

Daily new COVID-19 cases in the country dipped below 50,000 after around 40 days, taking the country’s virus tally to 4,26,31,421, while the active cases declined to 5,37,045, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

India logged 44,877 infections, while the death toll climbed to 5,08,665  with 684 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

A total of 37,379 people had tested positive for the infection in a day on January 04.

The daily COVID-19 cases were recorded less than one lakh for seven consecutive days

The active cases comprise 1.26 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has further improved to 97.55 percent, the ministry said.

A reduction of 73,398 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.17 percent and the weekly positivity rate settled at 4.46 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,15,85,711, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 percent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 172.81  crore.
