J&K reports 1,982 new Covid cases, 7 deaths

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday reported 1,982 fresh infections of COVID-19 while seven more persons succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours.

Of the fresh COVID cases, 1,288 were reported from Kashmir and 694 from the Jammu division, the officials said, adding the overall tally of cases has climbed to 4,42,462.

They said Srinagar district recorded the highest of 413 cases, followed by 310 cases in Jammu district on Thursday.

Among the seven fresh COVID deaths, officials said five were reported from Jammu division and two from the Kashmir Valley.

They also said 5,093 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals in the past 24 hours, including 3,539 from Kashmir and 1,554 from Jammu division.

No new case of Mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today, they said.

On vaccination, officials informed that 48,836 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K so far to 2,06,29,082.

They said, out of 4,42,462 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far across J&K, currently there are 26,711 active positive cases in the UT including 19,029 in Kashmir and 7,682 in Jammu division, while as 4,11,052 persons have recovered and 4,699 have died – 2,400 in Kashmir division and 2,299 in Jammu division.

Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases reported today, the officials said that Baramulla reported 253 cases, Budgam 116 cases, Pulwama 44 cases, Kupwara 230 cases, Anantnag 71 cases, Bandipora 56 cases, Ganderbal 44 cases, Kulgam 47 cases while as Shopian reported 14 fresh cases today.

They further said that Reasi reported 18 cases, Udhampur 74 cases, Rajouri 26 cases, Doda 76 cases, Kathua 62 cases, Samba 34 cases, Poonch 21case, Kishtwar 28 cases and Ramban reported 45 fresh cases.
