J&K reports nine deaths; 2751 fresh Covid cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir today reported nine Covid related deaths and 2751 fresh positive cases.

Officials said that five deaths were reported from Kashmir and four from Jammu division. Out of 2751 fresh positive cases, 1105 were reported from Jammu and 1646 from Kashmir division.

With these fresh cases, total number of positive cases in the UT has risen to 438176, said the officials.

They said that out of 438176 positive cases, 32558are active positive (8989in Jammu and 23569in Kashmir division) while as 400935 have recovered so far.

The UT has also reported 4683 Covid deaths – 2289 from Jammu division and 2394 from Kashmir division, officials said.

They further said that against the availability of 5038 dedicated level 1 & level 2 Covid beds, only 491 (9.74%) were occupied as on Tuesday.

The officials further said that 45,001doses of Covid vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to20521609.

Jammu district once again reported the highest number of fresh positive cases (561) followed by Srinagar district (440) and Kupwara district (405), officials said.

They said that Baramulla 136 cases, Budgam 177 cases, Pulwama 45 cases, Anantnag 108 cases, Bandipora 30 cases, Ganderbal 59 cases, Kulgam 209cases while as Shopian reported 37 fresh cases today.

Reasi reported 32 fresh cases, Udhampur 96 cases, Rajouri 21cases, Doda 74cases, Kathua 44 cases, Samba 86 cases, Poonch 31 cases, Kishtwar 11 cases and Ramban 149 fresh cases, officials said.

India reports over 1.67 lakh fresh Covid cases, 1,192 fatalities

With 1,67,059 people testing positive for coronavirus infection in a day, India’s total tally of cases increased to over 4.14 crore, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.

The death toll has climbed to 4,96,242 with 1,192 fatalities reported during the 24-hour period, the data updated at 8 am showed.

The active cases decreased by 88,209 to reach 17,43,059– 4.20 percent of the total infections — while the country’s recovery rate stands at 94.60 percent, the ministry said.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 11.69 percent, while the weekly positivity rate was 15.25 percent, according to the health ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,92,30,198 while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.20 percent, the ministry said

With the fresh cases, the total number of infections stands at 4,14,69,499, it said.

The cumulative number of anti-Covid vaccine doses administered in the country so far has crossed 166.68 crore.

India surpassed the one-crore mark in the number of cases on December 19, 2020.  India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 04 and three crore on June 23 last year.
