Horticulture Deptt checks status of HMO in Budgam

SRINAGAR: On the directions of Director General Horticulture Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, the Enforcement Wing of Horticulture Department district Budgam conducted surprise check of various locations to check the status of Horticulture Mineral Oil (HMO) in the district.

During the inspection, about 39000 liters of HMO was found stocked at Chadoorain in contravention of the provisions of the Insecticides Act, 1968 and rules made thereafter.

Taking cognizance of the matter, the necessary notices under relevant sections of the Insecticides Act-1968 were issued to stop the distribution, sale and use of the said stock.

The department has started a campaign to ensure that the supply, dumping and distribution of Tree Spray Oil (TSO)/Horticulture Mineral Oil (HMO) shall not take place unless duly authorized/registered with the Central Insecticides Board.

Referring to the campaign DG Horticulture said that no unregistered product shall be allowed for sale and any violation in this regard shall strictly be dealt with as per the Insecticide Act-1968.
