Police arrests fraudster for promising jobs against cash

Srinagar: Police have arrested a fraudster for cheating people on the pretext of getting them jobs in airlines at Srinagar airport.

A police spokesman said that on Jan 29, 2022, Police Station Shergarhi received a complaint from one Umar Ali resident of Shalpora Allochibagh alleging that he has been cheated by Mushtaq Ahmad son of Mohd Ashraf Janjoo resident of Frestwar Khansahab Budgam on pretext of providing a job in airlines at Srinagar Airport. He further alleged that he had paid an amount of ₹93,900/- to the said tout.

“Subsequently, a case vide FIR No. 16/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation was initiated,” said the spokesman.

The spokesman said that during the course of investigation, the accused was arrested and with the assistance of technical support of Cyber Police an amount of ₹58,800/- was recovered from his possession.

“Investigations also revealed that there are several other persons who have been cheated on the pretext of being provided with jobs by the accused person. Further investigation into the matter is in progress,” the police spokesman said.

The spokesman advised the general public to be aware of job scams and not to fall prey to fraudsters promising jobs in lieu of money.
