Martyrs’ Day observed in Kup, Gbl, Bandipora, Kulgam districts

Kupwara: Martyrs’ Day was today observed across Kupwara district in the memory of those who sacrificed their lives during the struggle for India’s freedom.

The main function was held at DC Office Kupwara which was presided over by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kupwara, Altaf Ahmad Khan. Besides, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Jowhar Ali; Tehsildar Kupwara, officers and officials of Civil administration and Police department attended the event.

On the occasion, a two-minute silence was observed by the participants preceded by a 1 minute sound of siren and the termination of silence was followed by a 1 minute sound of siren.

The function was held with strict adherence to the guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of Covid-19.

Talking to media persons, the ADDC said that Matryrs’ will be always remembered for their selfless sacrifice towards the freedom of the country. He said that it is because of their great sacrifices that people are now enjoying rights in a free democratic country.

Martyrs’ Day was also observed at sub divisional level, tehsil and block level of Kupwara district where concerned officers and employees participated in the event.

In view of National Martyrs day, District Administration Ganderbal today observed two minutes of silence during an event here at Mini-Secretariat Ganderbal in the memory of all those Martyrs who laid their lives in the service of the nation.

It is pertinent to mention here that on every year 30th January is being observed as National Martyrs day/Shaheed Diwas all over the country and on this day the people of the country pay their tribute to all the freedom fighters who lost their lives during India’s independence. January 30th also marks the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba and other senior officers and officials took part in an event and observed two minutes of silence to pay homage to the National heroes to laid their lives for the Nation.

Meanwhile, Bandipora District Administration on Sunday paid glowing tributes to the father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi, who was martyred on this day in 1948.

The officers and officials assembled at Mini secretariat Bandipora under the leadership of DC Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad and observed two minute silence as a mark of respect for the father of the nation.

The day of martyrdom is celebrated as Martyrs Day in the whole country.

The participants, while paying tribute to the martyrs, resolved to fight against all forms of violence and terrorism and will preach peace, tolerance, and brotherhood.

Similar functions were held in District Police Lines, Bandipora, and all other Police Establishments of the District and also at sub divisional level.

Similarly, Martyrs’ Day was observed in Kulgam district in the memory of those who sacrificed their lives during the struggle for India’s freedom.

In this regard main function was held at Mini-secretariat Kulgam which was presided over by Additional Development Commissioner (ADC) Kulgam, Showkat Ahmad Rather.

District Officers and officials also participated in this event and observed two-minute silence on the occasion.

The ADC added that Matryrs’ will be always remembered for their selfless sacrifice towards the freedom of the country.
