Covid-19: J&K records 5,606 new Covid cases, 8 deaths

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday recorded 5,606 fresh cases of coronavirus, raising its tally to 4,14,172, while eight more deaths pushed the toll to 4,635, officials said.

Of the fresh cases, 1,353 were reported from the Jammu division and 5,253 from the Kashmir division of the union territory, they said.

The officials said Srinagar district recorded the highest of 1,305 cases, followed by 803 cases in Budgam district.

Out of 414772 positive cases, 47969are active positive (13569in Jammu division and 34400in Kashmir division), 362168 have recovered and 4635 have died; 2264 in Jammu division and 2371in Kashmir division, officials said.

Giving district-wise breakup of positive cases reported today, the officials said that Srinagar reported 1305 cases, Baramulla 440 cases, Budgam 803 cases, Pulwama 134 cases, Kupwara 380 cases, Anantnag 528cases, Bandipora 66 cases, Ganderbal 297 cases, Kulgam 265 cases while as Shopian reported 35 fresh cases today.

In Jammu division, officials said, Jammu district reported 678 cases, Reasi 22 cases, Udhampur 129 cases, Rajouri 78 cases, Doda 84 cases, Kathua 38 cases, Samba 84 cases, Poonch 49 cases, Kishtwar 10 cases and Ramban reported 181 fresh cases.

The officials further said that 5005 more Covid-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 1592 from Jammu division and3413 from Kashmir division.

They informed that nonew case of Mucormycosis has been reported today, thusthe total number of confirmed casesremains51 across J&K.

Giving details about vaccination drive, the officials said that 16,040doses of Covid vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to2,02,92,209.
