Srinagar: The week-end Covid related lockdown seemed to have worked as the Jammu and Kashmir on Monday reported 2827 fresh Covid-19 cases, 672 less than the number reported on Sunday.

On Sunday, 2289 positive cases were reported from Kashmir division, while as on Monday, the number of positive cases was 1734, 555 less than what was reported 24 hours before.

Similarly, Jammu division also reported 117 less fresh cases today as it reported 1093 cases in comparison to 1210 reported on Sunday.

They said Srinagar district recorded a maximum of 614 new cases, followed by 556 cases in Jammu district.

With fresh 2827 cases, the number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 362200 while as with five fresh infection related deaths in Jammu division, the death toll in J&K has reached 4572; 2226 in Jammu division and 2346in Kashmir division, officials said.

They said that no new case of Mucormycosis has been reported today, thus the total number of confirmed casesremains51 across J&K.

The officials further said that out of 362200 positive cases, 17928are active positive (7185in Jammu division and 10743in Kashmir division) while as 339700 have recovered so far.

Jammu district topped in positive cases (711) cases followed by Srinagar (618) while as Baramulla and Budgam stood at number three and four respectively with 315 and 295 cases.

Anantnag reported 168 cases,Kupwara 139, Kulgam 57, Pulwama 56, Bandipora52, Ganderbal 22 cases with Shopian reporting minimum 12 fresh cases.

In Jammu division, after Jammu district (711), Udhampur district reported the highest number of cases (122).

Samba district reported 52 cases; Rajouri 42; Ramban 42;Reasi 35;Poonch 32; Kathua reported 30 cases, Doda reported 20 and Kishtwar reported 07 fresh cases.

On vaccination front, officials said that 55,629doses of COVID vaccine have been administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to1,99,13,049.
