The programme is being conducted under the aegis of Empaneled Training Institute (ETI) granted to KU’s office of Programme Coordinator NSS, by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India in 2019.

Nineteen programme officers from higher secondary schools of Kashmir have been deputed by Director School Education Kashmir while 16 programme officers from various colleges of Kashmir have been deputed by Director Colleges for participation in the current programme.

Addressing the participants at the inaugural session, Registrar Dr Nisar A Mir congratulated office of NSS for its sustained focus on holding training programmes which cover vital social, health and environmental issues, including first aid, mental health and disaster management.

“By roping in more teachers from schools and colleges, the NSS is widening its base as well as reach,” he said, reiterating that the University of Kashmir will always provide a platform for such professional capacity building programmes.

KU’s NSS Programme Coordinator Dr Mussavir Ahmad urged participants to make best use of this opportunity and learn from experts about skills they require to translate NSS programmes into reality on ground.

These training programmes, Dr Mussavir said, are being held with certain specific objectives including educating the participants about the NSS, its purpose and mission.

Provost Boys Hostels Prof Aejaz Mohammad Sheikh was special guest at the inaugural session, which was attended by NSS programme officers from University of Kashmir as well as NSS volunteers.
