Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 125 fresh Covid cases, taking the infection tally to 3,40,161 on Wednesday, while one more fatality due to the virus was reported from the Union Territory in the past 24 hours, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 97 were reported from Kashmir and 28 from the Jammu division of the Union Territory, they said.

Srinagar district recorded the highest of 47 cases followed by 20 cases in Jammu district.

The death toll in the Union Territory due to the pandemic was 4,515 as one fresh fatality was reported from Jammu division in the past 24 hours.

Officials also said that 143 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 122 from Kashmir and 21 from Jammu division in the last 24 hours.

They said there were 50 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the Union Territory as no fresh case was reported since last evening.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 64,343 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to 1,77,89,479.

According to the bulletin, out of 3,40,161 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far in J&K, currently there are 1308 active positive cases across the UT, including 970 in Kashmir and 338 in Jammu division, while as 3,34,338 persons have recovered and 4,515 have died – 2,319 in Kashmir and 2,196 in Jammu division.
