DDC Chairperson, Former Minister call on Lt Governor

JAMMU: Safina Baig, DDC Chairperson, Baramulla; Sukhnandan Choudhary, Former Minister J&K; Delegation of “Sparkle- Women Club” called on Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, at the Raj Bhavan here today.

Safina Baig while calling on the Lt Governor discussed with him various matters pertaining to the development of District Baramulla.

She appreciated the new financial discipline implemented in the UT and urged the Lt Governor for streamlining of the e-tendering process.

While listening to the DDC Chairperson, the Lt Governor observed that UT administration has implemented many novel initiatives to facilitate the rapid development of all regions of the UT. He assured her of appropriate action on her genuine concerns on merit.

The Former Minister brought to the notice of the Lt Governor various issues of public importance which included filling of vacant posts of senior officers in Irrigation and Flood Control for ensuring optimum working of the department and enhanced irrigation facilities for farmers, issue of mutation of land allotted under LB7 in favour of 1971 and 1965 refugees settled in his area, besides the issue of compensation and rehabilitation for farmers whose land has been acquired for the development of Gharana Wetland.

The Lt Governor while interacting with the Former Minister assured him that all genuine issues will be taken up for early redressal. He urged him to continue his endeavors of public welfare.

Meanwhile, a delegation of “Sparkle- Women Club” also met Lt Governor and apprised him of their organisation engaged in the service of community.

Benu Lakra gave a brief overview of the organisation which has been supporting children suffering from cancer, via various ways which include PET Scan and Radiotherapy facilities, providing modern equipment to hospitals for children, besides other activities.

The Lt Governor appreciated the efforts of the members of the club in serving the community. He impressed upon them to continue their noble work and assured every support of the UT administration in their humanitarian endeavours.
