Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Monday reported 105 new positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and one more fatality.

Of the fresh cases, 78 were reported from Kashmir and 27 from Jammu division of the UT, while the lone fatality was reported from the Valley, officials said.

They said 192 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 160 from Kashmir and 32 from Jammu division in the last 24 hours.

No new case of Mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today – so far the total number of confirmed cases remains 50 across J&K.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 60,934 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to 1,76,54,862.

According to the bulletin, out of 3,39,932 positive cases recorded cumulatively across J&K so far, currently there are 1,363 active positive cases across the UT including 1,027 in Kashmir and 336 in Jammu division, while as 3,34,056 persons have recovered and 4,513 have died – 2,319 in Kashmir and 2,194 in Jammu division.

Meanwhile With 6,563 people testing positive for coronavirus infection in a day, India’s total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 3,47,46,838, while the active cases declined to 82,267, the lowest in 572 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.

The death toll climbed to 4,77,554 with 132 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.

The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been recorded below 15,000 for the last 53 days now.

The active cases comprise 0.24 percent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.39 percent, the highest since March 2020,the ministry said.

A decline of 1,646 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.75 percent. It has been less than two percent for last 77 days. The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 0.60 percent. It has been below one percent for the last 36 days, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,41,87,017, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.37 percent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 137.67 crore.
