Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 136 fresh Covid cases on Friday, taking the infection tally to 3,39,540, while two new deaths were reported from the Union Territory in the past 24 hours, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 96 were from the Kashmir and 40 from the Jammu division of the Union Territory, the officials said.

Srinagar district recorded the highest of 54 cases followed by 18 cases in Jammu district.

The death toll in the Union Territory due to the pandemic was 4,510 as two fresh fatalities – one each from Kashmir and Jammu divisions — were reported in the past 24 hours.

Officials said 121 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 89 from Kashmir and 32 from Jammu division during this period.

Meanwhile, the officials said there were 50 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the Union Territory as no fresh case was reported since Thursday evening.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 59,856 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to 1,75,06,578.

According to the bulletin, out of 3,39,540 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far in J&K, currently there are 1,448 active positive cases across the UT, including 1,083 in Kashmir and 365 in Jammu division, while as 3,33,582 persons have recovered and 4,510 have died – 2,317 in Kashmir and2,193 in Jammu division.
