Rameez was recruited in the police department around three years ago and was the lone bread earner of his family, his family members said. They said while the job had kindled some hope, Rameez’s sudden demise has left the family in distress.

Pain and grief descended on Yachama Kangan village of the central Kashmir district today morning after the news of his death reached there.

Hundreds of people participated in his funeral prayers which were also attended by top civil and police officials including Superintendent of Police Ganderbal, Nikhil Borkar, CO 8th BN Imtiyaz Hussain Mir, SDPO Kangan and SDM Kangan. The deceased policeman was later laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Yachama Kangan.
