Srinagar: The Crime Branch Kashmir on Friday said that it has chargesheeted four accused government officials for abusing their official positions in the Department of Geology and Mining.

In a statement, a spokesperson said that CBK has produced charge-sheet in a case (FIR No: 12/2011 U/S 5(1)d, 5(2) PC Act Samvat Act 2006 r/w 120-B RPC of P/S CBK) against four accused persons.

As per the statement, those chargesheeted include Ishtiaq Ahmad Ashair, the then Director of the Geology and Mining Department J&K; Ashok Dhar, the Senior Drilling Engineer; Mushtaq Ahmad Kirmani, the then Technical Officer to Director, and S Rama Krishnan, then General Manager Marketing M/S Revathi Equipment Ltd. Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

They are accused of abusing their official positions and criminal misconduct in procuring a Rig Machine for the department despite field reports that the machine had not performed satisfactorily as per the laid down specifications when put to series of test checks.

The statement reads that this has been done with dishonest intention, thereby causing loss to the State exchequer.
