Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 177 fresh cases of coronavirus, taking the infection tally to 3,37,263 on Thursday, while no new death due to the virus was reported from the Union Territory in the past 24 hours, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 140 were reported from Kashmir and 37 from the Jammu division of the Union Territory, they said.

Srinagar district recorded the highest of 58 cases followed by 29 cases in Baramulla district.

The death toll due to the pandemic was 4,477 as no fresh fatality was reported in the past 24 hours.

They said 167 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 131 from Kashmir and 36 from the Jammu division in the last 24 hours.

The officials also said there were 49 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the Union Territory as no fresh case was reported since Wednesday evening.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 65,869 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K so far to 1,67,47,708.

According to the bulletin, out of 3,37,263 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far, currently there are 1,697 active positive cases across J&K, including 1,315 in Kashmir and 382 in Jammu division, while as 3,31,089 persons have recovered and 4,477 have died – 2,292 in Kashmir and 2,185 in Jammu division.
