DG Horticulture visits Post-Harvest units of Pulwama, Shopian

SRINAGAR: The Director General (DG) Horticulture Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, today visited the Pulwama and Shopian districts of South Kashmir.

During the tour, the DG visited various Post-Harvest units of the area and advised the owners of the units to work for the utmost satisfaction of farmers and create a farmer friendly environment. He urged them to follow the standard guidelines in letter and spirit.

Bhat later took the review of the developmental works of both the districts. He advised the Chief Horticulture Officers to ensure the completion of targets given to them under different schemes within the stipulated time. He also advised them to have special focus on implementation of Modified Hi-Density Plantation scheme and conduct special awareness camps about the scheme particularly in the tribal areas.

The DG also reviewed the winter preparedness in the districts and advised the farmers of the area to complete the pruning and maintain sanitation in the orchards besides follow the departmental advisories.

He said that for the convenience of the orchardists a central control room has been established at Directorate of Horticulture Srinagar which can be reached on 01942311484, 7006319098 and Kashmirhorticulture@gmail.com.

The DG was accompanied by the Chief Horticulture Officers and other field functionaries of the field staff during the tour.
