Demanding compensation for the fire victims, the senior party leader said, “These fire victims are marginal traders. Most of the shops and valuable merchandise, it is reported, wasn’t insured. Therefore it is imperative for the district and divisional administration to provide succour to them. I hope that the administration will depute revenue teams to the spot to assess the losses at an earliest so that the quantum of compensation is worked out and distributed without any delay.”

“I impress upon the administration to provide victims all possible monetary support from SDRF and other central sponsored schemes so that they are able to overcome the impact of the losses incurred on them by the ravaging fire. I also pray for speedy revival of all the victim traders,” he said.

North Zone President Javed Ahmed Dar and District President Baramulla Dr Sajad Shafi Uri have also expressed anguish over the fateful incident. The duo sought effective compensation for the affected as well.
