In the onset of the meeting it was said that the course for COVID Frontline Worker (Basic Care Support) is a crash course for all the Covid care workers and volunteers where the candidates are given hands-on training to deal better with this life-threatening disease.

It was said that the course is based upon 8 modules consisting of 21 days theory followed by on the job training in the nearby medical colleges or district hospitals.

The meeting was further informed that till date more than 4500 workers have received the training across the UT and are going to be provided with practical instructions in the nearby hospitals.

The course consists of instructions related to infection control practices and waste management, Introduction to human body, observation, reporting and documentation, death care, and understanding the working of basic medical equipment etc.

The meeting was apprised that there is a mandatory provision of 3 months on-the-job training which inculcates better practices and acumen among the trainers.

Dr Samoon impressed upon the officers to take this course seriously and ensure all the candidates attend both the theory and practical classes regularly.

He asked them to impart them with all the requisite instructions so that they are able to pass the test to be conducted by NSDC at the end of this course. He maintained that the training course would give us an army of health workers who are effective in dealing with the health emergencies in future as well.

He emphasised on giving ample opportunities to females as they are highly efficient in dealing with health exigencies with humane approach. He asked the health officers to see how ASHA workers could be trained further by seeking the services of government ITIs.

The Principal Secretary also urged the principals of AMT schools to ensure that J&K has some 10000 trained Covid warriors who are certified by NSDC after successfully passing the test. He asked them to give preference to candidates from remote areas where health care services are minimal and off bounds especially during harsh and inclement weather conditions.

Dr Samoon gave out that skilling is the future necessity as there is the huge requirement in the market for skilled personnel. He said that such training courses are going to help our youth to earn their livelihood at their own terms besides making the services easily available to the people across whole of J&K.
