Dr. Sehrish assumes charge of Mission Director RUSA

SRINAGAR: Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar today assumed the charge of Mission Director, Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).

Immediately after assuming the charge, Dr. Sehrish took an introductory meeting with the officials of RUSA and emphasised on them to work with utmost dedication and devotion so that the objectives behind the establishment of Mission are achieved.

The Mission Director delved upon the officers the key objectives of RUSA are to improve access, equity and quality in higher education through planned development of higher education and focus should be made on due implementation of these.

Dr. Sehrish further said that Higher Education is pivotal for the development of the country and through this Mission, transformative reforms in the higher education system can be created by facilitative institutional structure besides it will help to create an environment of promoting research and innovation in higher education institutions.

The Mission Director also asked the officials that the RUSA has a separate component for bringing equity in higher education for socially and educationally backward classes and therefore due measures should be taken to ensure that adequate opportunities are provided to these classes.

On the occasion, the officers of RUSA informed the Mission Director about various components of the Mission and highlighted that RUSA places greater emphasis on the improvement of the quality of teaching-learning processes in order to produce employable and competitive graduates, post-graduates and PhDs.
