Dir Agri Kmr reviews implementation of CSSs in Srinagar, Ganderbal

Srinagar: To review the progress on implementation of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSSs) in the agriculture sector, the Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal, today convened a high-level meeting of Srinagar, Ganderbal districts.

During the meeting, the Director took a comprehensive and scheme-wise review of progress on implementation of different schemes, projects. He stressed upon the concerned officers of allied wings to work with coordination and enthusiasm for all-round development of the agriculture sector.

The Director emphasized upon strengthening the accountability and transparent mechanism during the course of implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes.

The meeting reviewed scheme-wise achievements and implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes of the department.

The meeting was informed in detail about different schemes including Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna, National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture, National Mission of Agriculture Extension and Technology, National Food Security Mission, Soil Health Card Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Seenchayee Yojana, PM-Kissan and other schemes currently being implemented by the department.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director said that every technical support and guidance should be made available to the farmers. He impressed upon the concerned officers to mobilize their resources so that they can provide technical support to farmers on ground in order to achieve the targets in terms of quality and quantity under different crops.

He reiterated the need for maximizing the reach of different schemes and said that the ultimate purpose of these schemes is achieved only when benefits reach farmers at the grassroots level. He urged the officers to explore new ways and means to reach the farmer and address their issues.

Speaking on the importance of soil testing, Iqbal stressed upon the officers to achieve 100 percent targets set under the soil card scheme.

Earlier, a detailed PowerPoint presentation was delivered by Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar Mohammad Younis Chowdhary and Chief Agriculture Officer Ganderbal Gh. Hassan Magray highlighting the status and achievements made under different centrally sponsored schemes.

The meeting was attended by Joint Director Agriculture Extension Shahid Iqbal Sheikh, Joint Director Agriculture Farms Dr. Syed Waseem Ahmad Shah, Joint Director Apiculture and Mushrooms Mohammad Syed Peer, Joint Director Agriculture Engineering Ilyas Ahmad Khatib, Joint Director Agriculture Inputs Farooq Ahmad Bhat and other officers/officials of the twin districts.
