Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday recorded 97 fresh COVID-19 cases, which took the tally to 3,31,795, while one fresh death due to the virus was reported in the Union Territory in the past 24 hours, officials said.

Out of the 97 fresh cases, 82 were from the Kashmir and 15 from the Jammu division and of the Union Territory, they said.

The officials said Srinagar district recorded the highest number of 36 cases followed by 18 cases in Baramulla district.

The death toll in the union territory due to the pandemic is 4,431 as one fresh death was reported from Kashmir Valley in the past 24 hours, the officials said.

Moreover, they said 77 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 57 from Kashmir and 20 from Jammu division.

Meanwhile, they said, there were 49 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the Union Territory as no fresh case was reported since last evening.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on COVID-19 informed that 63,426 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours across the UT bringing the cumulative number of doses administered here to 14,320,031.

According to the bulletin, out of 3,31,795 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far, currently there are 854 active positive cases across J&K including 730 in Kashmir and 124 in Jammu division, while as 3,26,510  persons have recovered so far and 4,431 have died, including 2,255 in Kashmir and 2,176 in Jammu division.

Meanwhile  India saw a single-day rise of 12,428 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest in 238 days, while the active cases declined to 1,63,816, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.

With the fresh cases, the total tally climbed to 3,42,02,202, while the death toll climbed to 4,55,068 with 356 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.

Kerala has reconciled 228 fatalities from the previous period, officials said, adding that 53 deaths have been reported from the state in the last 24 hours.

The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 30,000 for 31 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 120 consecutive days now.

The active cases comprise 0.49 percent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.18 percent, the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.

A decrease of 3,879 cases has been recorded in the total active number of COVID-19 cases in a span of 24 hours.

Also, 11,31,826 tests were conducted on Monday, taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the country to 60,19,01,543.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.10 percent and the weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 1.24 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,35,83,318, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.33 percent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 102.94 crore.
