Anantnag: A civilian was killed in CRPF firing after the vehicle in which he was travelling ignored a signal to stop at Monghall bridge in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday.

Official sources said that a Scorpio vehicle was signaled to stop by the naka party of 40 BN CRPF at Monghall bridge.

“As the car didn’t stop, the CRPF personnel fired some shots towards the vehicle, resulting in on spot death of a man,” they said.

Officials said that fire was opened in self defence as the vehicle didn’t stop despite the signal.

Some sources identified the killed person as Yasir Ali of Jhajharkotli, Jammu.

However, the driver managed to escape, sources said.
