J&K reports 172 fresh COVID-19 cases; no new virus-related death

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday recorded 172 fresh cases of coronavirus, taking the infected number of persons to 3,28,590  while no fresh death due to the virus was reported from the Union Territory, officials said.

Out of the 172 fresh cases, 151 were from Kashmir and 21 from Jammu division of the UT, the officials said.

They said Srinagar district recorded the highest number of 67 cases followed by 36 cases in Baramulla district.

The death toll in the UT due to the pandemic was 4,419 as no fresh death was reported in the past 48 hours.

Moreover, 91 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals including 78 from Kashmir and13 from Jammu division in the past 24 hours, officials said.

They said so far 79.70 percent of the population above the age of 18 years has been vaccinated across Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the officials said there were 46 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the UT as no fresh case was reported since Wednesday evening.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 3,28,590 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far, currently there are 1,617 active positive cases across Jammu and Kashmir, while as 3,22,554 persons have recovered and 4,419 have died – 2,247 in Kashmir and 2,172 in Jammu division.
