Vinijya Utsav Export Conclave concludes at Kashmir Haat Srinagar

Srinagar: The Vinijya Utsav Export conclave that kick started on 21st September at Kashmir Haat concluded here on Thursday.

The participants included organizations from the Ministry of Commerce, DGFT, Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom Kashmir, IICT, CEPC, WWEPC and others discussing the ways and means to increase the exports from the Union territory.

The Concluding day session saw the presentations from the organizations including NIFT, Indian Institute of Packaging, CEPC, ECGC, HDFC Bank and other central Government organisations.

While thanking the participants from various organizations of the Central and UT Government, the Director Handicrafts & Handloom Kashmir, Mahmood Ahmad Shah delved upon the importance of organizing such type of events and the serious efforts that are needed at this point to boost exports from the UT so as to reduce the import dependence.

He said there is a need to strengthen our rich handicraft and handloom sector that has an important role in export promotion of the UT. This will not only boost our economy but will also benefit the other fabrics of the society too, he added.

Besides, the role of the Handicrafts sector, the Director Handicrafts & Handloom Kashmir highlighted the role of Horticulture, Agriculture and Tourism products and their potential in bringing the foreign revenue to the UT.

Chairman CEPC, Umar Hameed in his address appealed to various organizations of the central and state Governments to work in unison so as to carry out the mission of increasing exports from the UT.

While thanking the Handicrafts & Handloom Department Kashmir for lending full support to make the event successful, the Chairman laid stress on the banks particularly the HDFC bank to increase their lending ratio for the exporters.

The event also saw a two day exhibition and concluded with a panel discussion of the Government Organizations’ and stakeholders.
