ADGP Armed addresses preparatory meeting for sport events

Srinagar: ADGP Armed J&K on Wednesday addressed the preparatory meeting for sport events “Cycle Race (Pedal for Peace) & Jashn-E-Dal” at APHQ Conference Hall Srinagar.

“As a part of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav, Jammu and Kashmir Police is organizing Sports events “Cycle Race (Pedal for Peace) in collaboration with J&K Cycling Association Srinagar at Lake View Police Golf Course Srinagar on 19th September-2021 & Jashn-E-Dal” in collaboration with J&K Kayaking & Canoeing/ Rowing/Swimming Associations Srinagar at back Lawns of SKICC Srinagar on 7th to 9th October-2021 under its Civic Action Programme,” this was stated by ADGP Armed J&K, S.J.M Gillani-IPS in a meeting held at Armed Police Headquarters Srinagar today.

Cycle Race (Pedal for Peace) event will be open for all and people interested in participating can register themselves at the Registration Counter, which shall be established at Police Golf Course, Nehru Park Srinagar, S.K Indoor Sports Complex & Kashmir University from September 10th 2021 and will remain on 24×7.

The ADGP Armed J&K said that the mega events for both the Sport events viz: Cycle Race (Pedal for Peace) & Jashn-E-Dal will be organized under six and fourteen different categories respectively. Categories falling under Cycle Race (Pedal for Peace) are; Senior (Men) above 17 years (ATB) Professional Cyclists, Senior (Men) above 17 years (MTB) Cyclists, Girls above 14 years (MTB) Cyclists, Jr. Boys under 17 years (MTB) Cyclists, Sub-Junior (Boys) under 14 years (MTB) Cyclists, Sub-Junior (Girls) under 14 years (MTB) Cyclists and similarly categories falling under sport event Jashn-E-Dal are; in Distance 500 Meters viz: Men, Junior & Women open categories, distance 200 Meters viz: Men, Junior & Women open categories, long distance swimming viz: open Men & Junior Boys categories, 50 metres Free Style Swimming viz: Open Men & Junior Boys categories, 100 meters Free Style Swimming viz: Open Men & Junior Boys categories, 4*50 Relay viz: Open Men & Junior Boys categories, Shikara Race in Open category, Water Ski viz: Open Men & Women categories, Indoor Rowing viz: Men & Women Categories and Traditional Demb Boat race 500 meters viz: Open Men & Women categories. Further participants in Junior and Sub-Junior categories are requested to produce their date of birth certificate before registering themselves in the said sport events.

Earlier, Dushyant Sharma-SSP Staff Officer (Sports) APHQ J&K gave a detailed Power Point presentation on the sequence of activities/ arrangements significant for smooth and successful conduct of both the Sport events “Cycle Race (Pedal for Peace) & Jashn-E-Dal”.

During the meeting, the ADGP discussed in threadbare the responsibilities that have been entrusted to various committees set up for the smooth conduct of both the events. He expressed his optimism of getting an overwhelming response to the events and further appealed to the people of Kashmir, especially the youth to participate in full strength.

Further, refreshments would also be made available to the participants of both the sport events. Elaborate arrangements in terms of security, traffic management, transportation, accommodation, first AID, meals etc. for these participants were also discussed during the meeting.
