Tourism Department holds camp at Yousmarg

YOUSMARG: Tourism Department along with district administration Budgam organised a day-long camp here today for ponywallas for an on spot redressal of their issues and demands.

On the occasion, the tourism unitholders were made aware about the importance and procedure of getting registered with the Department for carrying out fair trade activities. Officers explained to them the requirements and formalities to be completed for getting registered with the Department as mandated under J&K Registration of Tourist Trade Act.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Tourism Kashmir, Dr. G N Itoo, said the Department has launched a drive to listen to the concerns and demands of local stakeholder, particularly ponwallas, at different tourist destinations so that they don’t have to face any difficulties.

The Director Tourism said the department is working on many ideas to promote Yousmarg on the tourism map. He said next month a tourism festival shall be held at Yousmarg to highlight the potential of the destination.

He impressed upon them the need to keep the surroundings of this picturesque place dirt free.

Earlier, the Director Tourism attended a relief distribution camp for tourism stakeholders organised by a local NGO-Kashmir Welfare Trust in collaboration with Tourism Department and district administration.

Speakers on the occasion impressed upon the locals and tourism stakeholders to maintain sanitation and cleanliness of the destination for a better tourist footfall.

The camp was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner/CEO, Yousmarg Development Authority, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Chadoora, Deputy Director Tourism, other senior officers and a large number of ponywallas and other tourism stakeholders.
