Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 166 fresh Covid cases on Friday, taking the cumulative infection tally to 3,24,813, while the Union Territory registered first death due to the virus in the past three days, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 122 were from Kashmir and 44 were from the Jammu division, the officials said.

Srinagar district recorded a maximum of 57 cases followed by 19 cases in Budgam district.

The death toll due to the disease was 4,405 as one new fatality was reported from Jammu division in the past 24 hours.

Moreover, 76 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 40 from Kashmir and36 from Jammu division, officials said.

They said so far 64.30 percent of the population above the age of 18 years has been vaccinated across Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the officials also said there were 44 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the Union Territory as no fresh case was reported since last evening.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 3,24,813 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far, currently there are 1,149 are active positive cases across the UT, while as 3,19,259 persons have recovered and 4,405 have died – 2,241 in Kashmir and 2,164 in Jammu division.
