Baramulla: One militant has been killed in an encounter that broke out during night in PeethSeer area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Police sources said that the body of the militant was yet to be retrieved or identified while as heavy exchange of fire at the encounter site are still going on.

Earlier, during late last night a joint team of Army, Police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the area following the inputs about presence of militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.

As per the sources two to three militants are believed to be trapped.

Authorities have suspended train services between Budgam to Baramulla and vice vers as a precautionary measure in wake of this encounter.
