J&K reports 77 COVID-19 cases, one death

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 77 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking the infection tally to 3,23,499, while a single fatality pushed the death toll to 4,398 in the union territory, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 23 were from Jammu division and 54 from Kashmir division, they said.

The officials said Srinagar district recorded the highest number of 14 new cases followed by Baramulla with 12.

While 135 COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 87 from Kashmir and 48 from Jammu division, the lone COVID death was reported from the Jammu region, officials said.

The officials said there were 42 confirmed cases of Mucormycosis (black fungus) in the union territory currently while so far 99.71 percent of the population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (COVID-19), out of 3,23,499 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far, currently there are 1,229 positive cases in the UT, while 3,17,872 persons have recovered and 4,398 have died – 2,240 in Kashmir and 2,158 in Jammu division.
