Mian Bashir passes away

Srinagar: Veteran spiritual leader Mian Bashir Ahmed passed away on Saturday at his native village Wangat Kangan in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal District.

He was the son of a top Gujjar leader and saint Mian Nizam Din Larvi and father of former Minister Mian Altaf Ahmad.

Mian Bashir Ahmed Laaravi was born on November 1923. He was a Minister in Shiekh Abdullah’s cabinet. Later, he left politics and started working for Islamic Sufi tradition and help downtrodden people.

In 2008, he was honored with ‘Padma Bhushan” Award for his extraordinary service for Gujjar, Bakarwal and other downtrodden communities.

His Nimaz e Jinazah will be observed tomorrow 4 Pm at Mizar Shrief Baba ji Sahib Larvilocated at Baba Nagari Wangat Kangan.
