Ganderbal: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today conducted an extensive tour of Ganderbal district to take stock of various ongoing developmental activities with special focus on arrangements for the upcoming 75th Independence Day, winter preparedness of PDD and Disaster management.

During his tour, the Advisor also met members of DDC, BDC and several deputations at Government Degree College Kangan who apprised him of their demands and issues.

The Advisor was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna, Director Rural Development Department, Director Floriculture and other concerned.

During his visit, Advisor Baseer Khan inspected several developmental works and directed the concerned to gear up efforts in completing the works within the given timelines.

During his visit, Advisor inspected Covid care centre Wussan -B, play field Bomi Mohallah Chinner  Wussan, receiving station Kangan and other developmental works.

He impressed upon the line departments to work in close coordination and asked the concerned to engage all the PRI members to inspect the ongoing works in their respective areas.

He urged the officers to expedite the pace of works as the productive working season is limited.

While inspecting the ongoing development of playground at Bomi Wussan, ACD Ganderbal informed the Advisor that the playground is being developed on 16 kanals of land and is taken under MGNREGA at the cost of Rs 2.99 lakh in 1st phase while in phase 2nd, the playfield would be further developed into one of the beautiful playgrounds after consultation with Youth Service and Sports Department.

Highlighting the importance of Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB), the Advisor impressed upon the officials to launch Information, Education and Communication activities vigorously educating the public about the need to follow the guidelines issued by the government from time to time.

He called upon the people to follow CAB in letter and spirit and said that Covid-19 is not over yet and stressed upon the district administration to intensify vaccination drive.

The Advisor further said that the administration and the civil society have to work hand-in-hand to fight the pandemic and the fight against COVID-19 is a collective one and everyone needs to play his part.

During his visit to Covid Care Centers, Advisor was informed that CCCs are fully established at all 126 Panchayats.

Deputy Commissioner, Krittika Jyotsna informed the Advisor that 69 Covid positive patients are active in the district, besides recovery rate is over 98.5 percent.

She further informed that vaccination for 18-44 years is in full swing and 40% of the population is given 1st dose besides, 45 % of the population over 45 years of age is also given 2nd dose.

Advisor Baseer Khan also reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations and said that all arrangements should be done in line with the directions during numerous meetings held for the purpose by him.

He reviewed various arrangements including Flag hoisting, Cultural programs, Traffic plan, Sanitation, Sports activities, Medicare, Illumination, and directed them to undertake each activity effectively and efficiently.

He also urged District Administration to encourage and recognize the work done of persons, PRI members, Healthcare workers, Nurses, Police and others who have worked during COVID-19 period with dedication.

Advisor Baseer Khan also emphasized on mass participation of people in the ID functions following Covid appropriate Behavior and directed the officers to start Sanitation drives in Towns and villages of the District involving NGOs, Youth and Civil Society members in the sanitation drive to fine tune it with the celebration of Independence Day.

On the occasion, DC Ganderbal informed that the main function will be held in the premises of Qamriya ground, Ganderbal where the National Flag will be unfurled by the chief guest followed by the march past presented by contingents drawn from District Police, CRPF, Armed Police, NCC, PTS Manigam and students of various educational institutions.

Advisor Baseer Khan also reviewed the winter preparedness of PDD and other departments and impressed upon the officers to gear up their efforts so that all the vital projects are completed before the onset of winter season as per the stipulated timelines.

He directed the officers to make preparations for the upcoming winter to ensure that people don’t face hardships especially on account of availability of electricity.

He directed to make arrangements before the onset of winter especially augmenting power infrastructure which includes repairing of transmission lines, branch cutting along the line corridors, buffer stock of transformers and other logistics to be made available.

He further asked the PDD officers to replace damaged poles, conductors and wires immediately as directed in the meetings already taken.

The Advisor also interacted with DDC members, BDC members, Sarpanchs and Trade associations and other individuals who raised several issues of public interest of their respective areas and put forth various issues and demands like renovation and up-gradation of several roads and health care infrastructure.

The other demands projected included getting NOC from Forest and Development authorities for construction of Playfields, PMGSY roads, enhancement of staff in Rural Development Department.

The delegations also raised the issue of manpower in Trauma Hospital Kangan, completion of hospital building at Kellan, Common Service Center in Kangan, power house augmentation, dumping site for Kangan recruitment of local youth in megaprojects, besides other demands.

The Advisor gave patient hearing to all the delegations and individuals and assured an early redressal of their genuine demands and issues.

He said that the issues projected by them would be taken up with the concerned departments for immediate redressal while in some cases the Advisor also gave on spot instructions to the concerned officers for redressal of the grievances.
