Baseer Khan reviews progress of transit accommodation for Kashmiri migrants

Srinagar: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today chaired a meeting to review the progress in connection with setting of transit accommodation for Kashmiri Migrants under Prime Minister’s Development Package at Civil Secretariat here.

The meeting was attended by Secretary (DMRRR), Development Commissioner Works (PWD), Chief Engineer PW (R&B), Kashmir, Chief Engineer Jal Shakti Department Kashmir, Tehsildar Relief and Rehabilitation (M) Kashmir, Liaison Officer Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M) J&K.

The Advisor directed the Department of Disaster Management Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction (DMRRR) to push for the completion of all the ongoing Transit Accommodation and remove bottlenecks, if any. Advisor directed the officers from Jal Shakti, Power Development Department, R&B and other concerned departments to expedite the formulation of DPRs for each site and directed the officers to have better coordination with other line departments.

The government under PMDP/PMRP had decided to construct transit accommodation in each district of the Kashmir valley at 17 sites as per the number of recruitment made under Prime Minister’s Package.

The Advisor directed the officers to submit DPR for all the 17 sites within 7 days and every department must ensure that timelines are strictly adhered to. The Advisor directed the officers to redouble their efforts in chasing the targets and meeting the deadlines and said that work should be drawn in order of priority.

He said that a proper layout plan should be drawn for all the 17 locations in 10 districts as each site will have a specific DPR different requirements. He also directed the PDD, Jal Shakti, PWD departments to see the requirements of each location and start working on that and directed them to strictly follow the requirements as per the layout plan for better management.

He said that the all the 17 locations in Kashmir should have all the basic amenities available in terms of water, power, roads, Watch towers, boundary wall, Gate, Community hall, Shopping complex.

Advisor directed the chief Engineer Jal Shakti, PDD and R&B and the officers of DMRRR to have the work on Wandhama site expedited and fixed 15 September timeline for completion in all respects.

Advisor further said that regular meetings shall be taken fortnightly to review the work done by the concerned departments in connection with the transit accommodation.
