DGP reviews security scenario, I-Day preparedness at Rajouri, Jammu

Srinagar: Director General of Police J&K, Dilbag Singh, today visited Rajouri and Jammu to review the internal and border security arrangements of these districts during two separate meetings.

At Jammu, the DGP also reviewed arrangements for the forthcoming Independence Day.

“The DGP first visited Rajouri where he was received by ADGP Jammu, Mukesh Singh, DIG RP Range Vivek Gupta and other officers. Besides ADGP Jammu and DIG RP Range, the meeting at Rajouri was attended by Brig. 13 Sector RR, Ajay Sharma, SSP Rajouri Sheema Nabi Qasba, CO IRP 2nd Bn. Abdul Rashid, SP CID CI Rajouri, Balwant Raj, 2IC CRPF 72 Bn. K.C Ahlawat, Asst. CO 72 CRPF, Vinod Kumar, ASP Nowshara Amit Verma, ASP Headquarters Rajouri Vivek Shekhar Sharma and other jurisdictional officers,” said a police spokesperson.

“The DGP while addressing the joint review meeting at Rajouri stressed upon the officers to ensure high alertness in the border areas and hinterland, to check any infiltration attempt. He appreciated JK Police personnel and security forces for neutralizing two terrorists in Thanamandi and added that our efforts would continue to track down the anti-peace elements. He directed the officers to remain extra alert as terror outfits are continuously trying to use drones for terrorist activities,” the spokesperson said.

“The DGP stressed for fight against narco-terrorism as attempts are being made to involve our youth in the menace. He directed for strengthening Naka points on Mugal road as also on national highway to keep check on transportation of drugs and peddlers,” he said.

The spokesperson further said: “Later, the DGP visited Jammu where he chaired officers meeting at Police Headquarters and reviewed the security scenario of Jammu and arrangements for Independence Day. ADGP Jammu, Mukesh Singh, DIG, JSK Range Atul Goel, AIG (Tech) PHQ, Rahul Malik, SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli, SSP CI Jammu Shridhar Patil, SSP SB Jammu Rohit Baskotra and officers attended the meeting at PHQ. Range DIsG M. Suleman Choudhary, Vivek Gupta, Udayabhaskar Billa and district SSsP of Jammu Zone attended the meeting through video conferencing.”

“During the meeting, the DGP directed the officers to be alert to thwart any evil designs of terrorists and their masters. He directed the officers to enhance cooperation between different forces at different levels to strengthen the security of the border and highway grid. He directed the officers that “whatever extra measures are required should be taken to counter the terror activities”. Stressing for strengthen the border, highway and hinterland security grid, the DGP directed the officers to formulate the comprehensive security plans for desired results. The arrangements regarding the Independence Day celebration were also thoroughly discussed,” he said.

“The officers briefed the DGP regarding the security scenario and security measures put in place in their respective jurisdictions to ensure a peaceful and trouble-free environment for the people,” he added.
