Advisor Farooq reviews I-Day arrangements in Jammu division

Jammu: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, today reviewed arrangements being put in place by district administrations for smooth conduct of 75th Independence Day celebration in districts of Jammu division.

The meeting was attended by ADGP Jammu, Mukesh Singh, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Anshul Garg, IG BSF, DG NCC, SSP Jammu, SSP Traffic, SSP Security, Director Floriculture, Chief Engineer JPDCL, Joint Director Information, Joint Commissioner JMC besides senior officers of concerned departments while Deputy Commissioners of other districts along with SSPs and other concerned district officers participated online.

Advisor directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure strict adherence to Covid related SOPs during the celebrations. He also reviewed the arrangements for felicitation of Covid warriors and was informed that selection committees have been constituted for the purpose.

Sensitizing the officers about their role and responsibilities, Advisor instructed them to ensure that all arrangements are made in time in all districts. He stressed on conducting plantation drives in the districts besides organizing events like patriotic songs, painting competitions, quiz, seminars on the Independence Day.

Advisor directed the DCs to ensure that Independence Day is celebrated with full enthusiasm at block and Panchayat level schools with active involvement of PRI members. He asked the SSPs to ensure complete security of all celebration venues in their respective districts.

Advisor exhorted upon the concerned to ensure illumination of all the office buildings besides asking DCs to follow the activity calendar of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav and organise events in their respective districts according to the calendar.

Divisional Commissioner apprised the Advisor that review meetings are being held in all the districts regarding celebration of the national event. He informed that the main function will be held at M A Stadium Jammu and the concerned departments have been instructed to put in place all necessary arrangements well in advance.

DCs and SSPs also apprised the Advisor about the arrangements being put in place in their respective districts for smooth conduct of Independence Day celebration.

Threadbare discussion was held on other important issues like traffic, security passes, seating arrangements, decoration, illumination of offices, power and water supply, sanitation, medicare facilities, invitation cards, cultural activities with directions to concerned for making adequate arrangements on this account.
