DIG NKR e-inaugurates Women Help Desks

Srinagar: DIG NKR Baramulla, Sujit Kumar, today inaugurated Women Help Desks through e-inauguration from the conference hall of District Police Lines Baramulla.

He was accompanied by SSP Baramulla, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, on the occasion.

The Women Help Desks were inaugurated at Uri, Sheeri, Chandoosa, Kreeri, Pattan, Tangmarg & Gulmarg of District Police Baramulla with additional facility of counselling room, feeding room & washroom.

Speaking on the occasion, DIG NKR Baramulla said that J&K Police is increasing its legal assistance and help to women victims by opening more separate Women Help Desks in coming future with the aim to serve the womenfolk legally and crime against the women will be dealt by women officers/officials in these Help Desks which will definitely provide an opportunity to the womenfolk of the respective area to approach police regarding the crime against them and express their grievances more comfortably.

While interacting with in-charges of Women Help Desks, SSP Baramulla, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, stressed for counselling in case of domestic disputes so as to help the couples to develop a better understanding.

SSP Baramulla also directed In-charges of these Desks to follow the complaints even after the settlement by visiting their home occasionally to get first-hand information. In addition to this, they were directed to register complaints on mobile phone application “SAHULAT”, introduced recently by Baramulla Police for redressal of grievances.
