Civil Society Varmul celebrates ‘Varmul Day’

Baramulla: To acknowledge and appreciate the people from cross section of society for their contributions in their respective fields, Civil Society Varmul organized a grand function at Sheerwani Hall to celebrate the ‘Varmul Day’ in which famous personalities and people from various sections of society were awarded for their contributions and services rendered by them for welfare and upliftment of the society.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar, was chief guest while as DIG North Kashmir Sujit Kumar, SSP Baramulla Rayees Mohammad Bhat, Principal GMC Prof. Ruby Reshi were guests of honor besides various famous personalities, officers from several departments, journalists, civil society members, students and a huge gathering of people were present in the celebration.

The award of appreciation function was organised to appreciate and felicitate the services rendered by various personalities and stakeholders towards the welfare and upliftment of the society. At least 11 imminent personalities were awarded “ Sitar-e-Zeenat” awards while as 40 people including trekkers, civil society members, sports personalities, traders, journalists, doctors and officers of from various departments were felicitated who contributed positively in their respective domains.

Deputy Commissioner, in his address complimented the organizers and terms it a much important event that has been organised to recognize their services. He extended his extreme applause and paid tribute to all those whose services were positively remembered, adding that such personalities in the society make us proud and keep our heads high.

Bhupinder Kumar also highlighted the services of COVID-19 warriors and said that these warriors worked tirelessly and selflessly during the tough circumstances that emerged due to the outbreak of the pandemic. He also emphasized that every stakeholder should identify his role and should endeavour to contribute and play his or her part towards the welfare of the society.

Chairman Varmul Civil Society , Engineer Tariq Ahmad Magloo said, “The sole aim of organizing this award ceremony on Varmul Day  was to encourage and acknowledge the dedicated personalities, scholars, artists, social activists, social organizations , media persons, doctors, trekkers, sport personalities, business icons and officers who have contributed towards betterment of society as whole in their respective fields.”

Other speakers also presented their views wherein they extended their appreciation to these personalities and urged administration to work for the betterment and development of Baramaulla district.
