Srinagar: Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department, Dr Asgar Hasan Samoon, today chaired a meeting to review the physical and financial progress on projects of Skill Development Department being executed under CAPEX budget 2021-22.

The meeting reviewed in detail the physical and financial achievements under CAPEX budget 2021-22 in reference to identified Government Polytechnics and Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).

While reviewing the physical progress on these works, Principal Secretary directed the concerned executing agencies to complete the ongoing projects in stipulated timeframe. He took strong note of the delay in the completion of the works and directed the officers to take responsibility and work in a coordinated manner so that all the works are completed. He further said that any officer lacking in action will be taken to task.

He also directed the officers that amount should not be withheld in case of the completed works. He also directed the officers to hold periodical review of the various undergoing works besides inspecting the progress of works.

Principal Secretary also said that the budget has increased over the years and there is a need to show corresponding results on ground. He said that the Skill Development Department has a pivotal role to play in providing skill development to overcome the problem of unemployment in the UT. He directed the concerned officers to work with utmost dedication to ensure empowerment of youth by way of imparting requisite proficiency.

Director Skill Development Department informed the meeting about the present status of various ongoing projects, besides providing a component wise breakup of the funds under CAPEX.

The meeting was attended by senior officers of Skill Development Department.
