DC B’pora visits far-flung areas of Gurez valley

BANDIPORA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad today visited far flung areas of Gurez valley including Kanzalwan, Bagtore, Izmarg, Tarbal, Chuntiwari, etc to review the developmental activities in the border Sub-Division of Bandipora district.

The DC on the occasion visited several villages and conducted on-spot inspection of various ongoing works including Chontiwari-Baktoor road being constructed under PMGSY besides other roads being constructed, repaired and macadamized.

Dr Owais also reviewed works of Rural Development Department, R&B in these areas and held interaction with panchayat members of Bagtore Block regarding ongoing works under various schemes of RDD.

Officers on the occasion informed the DC about the achievements registered and ongoing projects in Gurez along with their present status.

On the occasion, DC directed the officers to expedite the work on ongoing projects and work extra hours to meet the deadline. He said there is a limited working season in the Gurez Valley due to which the officers need to work extra hours to complete the works before the onset of winters in the region.

He directed the officers to regularly visit Gurez to take on spot review of developmental works and also asked them to mobilize the field staff for redressal of genuine grievances and effective implementation of different state and central sponsored schemes.

Dr Owais also reviewed the progress of vaccination in Gurez valley against Covid-19 and appreciated the efforts of field staff to fight the pandemic.

He also interacted with people who apprised him about various issues faced by them especially during winter when Gurez Valley remains cut off from the rest of the world. The DC gave patient hearing to the people and passed on-spot directions for early redressal of several grievances and assured the people that he will personally look into all the issues flagged by the people.
